Patto-Mala bridge to be ready by December

PANJIM: Panjim MLA Siddharth Kuncalienkar on Wednesday confirmed that the Patto-Mala bridge will be thrown open in December. This will bring relief to the residents of Mala, Taleigao and Bhatlem.

Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone for the restoration of Fonte Fenix, at Mala, Kuncalienkar said the government is in the process of acquiring land by which a new access road will build thorough the fields linking to the new bridge.

He said the government plans to eradicate open defecation in Mala, by constructing public toilets in the area and that GSIDC will soon take up construction of a children’s park at Mala.

He said GSIDC has taken up the spring restoration project and that it aims to breathe new life into Fonte Fenix. The project will include removal of vegetal roots and debris, structural stabilisation of loose parts, restoration of damaged architectural details and repairs and reconstruction of the concrete balusters and the finish of the structure and surroundings will be improved and measures taken to avoid further damage.
