PANJIM: From September 15 the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) will implement pay parking at 18 places in the capital city, including the busy 18th June road and Church square. With this the CCP intends to clear idle parking, and create space for those who have urgent work in the city.
The North Goa Collector through a notification issued on August 8 has announced pay parking at 18 places, to be effective from September 18.
Addressing media persons on Monday, city Mayor Surendra Furtado said that the tendering process for pay parking would be completed shortly and by September 15 it would be implemented.
He said that CCP had on March 28, submitted a proposal for pay parking to the North Goa Collector for notification. He said that the proposal was long pending and will help in controlling haphazard parking.
The 18 places for pay parking include 18th June road, Church square, Dr R S road, T B Cunha road, Menezes Braganza road, Dr Govind Vaidhya road, Bhosle Square, Swami Vivekanand road, A B road and other small lanes.
