VALPOI: The paying guest accommodations operating illegally have come under the scanner of the Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC).
It was noticed that many unregistered paying guest accommodations were being offered to migrants, who were coming to cities for better education and employment.
Valpoi Municipal Counci chief officer Cynthia Mesquita said necessary directions have been issued to register paying guest accommodation in accordance with the existing regulation.
Valpoi Municipal Counci will now have to keep a check on paying guest accommodation to see if they are functioning illegally or in unhygienic condition, she said, adding that through paying guest accommodation provided cheaper option their operation needs to be regulated and the mushrooming of the unauthorized paying guest accommodations would have to be strictly monitored.
“I have also conveyed a meeting of self-help groups to create awareness among the people to avoid misuse of residential promises and regulate the operation of paying guest accommodation”, Valpoi Municipal Counci chief officer Cynthia Mesquita s said.
