MARGAO: Shridhar M Poicane, a resident of Colmorod-Navelim, died after being hit by a car.
According to the Margao police, the fatal accident occurred on Saturday at around 9.45 pm. Sameer Hublikar, a resident of Mostimol, Canacona, was allegedly driving in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Margao to Navelim and struck Shridhar Poicane, who was crossing the road. Poicane was badly wounded, and also sustained a grievous head injury.
He was immediately shifted to the South District Hospital in Margao for treatment and later referred to Goa Medical College (GMC) in Bambolim, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police registered an offence under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, based on a complaint filed by Aanushka S. Parab, LPSI of Margao Town Police. A panchanama was conducted, and the car involved in the accident was taken to the police station.
