The Penha de Franca Village Panchayat has raised serious objections to the ongoing works at the Malim jetty, questioning the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) over what it termed as “unauthorised” construction.
Sarpanch Rudresh Kamat has sought written proof from GSIDC regarding the licence and permissions granted for carrying out the works. He stated that the panchayat has not been furnished with any official documentation authorising the activity at the site.
The sarpanch further indicated that a stop-work order is likely to be issued if GSIDC fails to submit the required approvals.
The panchayat has reiterated its support for the proposed sewage treatment plant (STP) outside the jetty area and maintained that any development must strictly adhere to planning norms and environmental safeguards.
Members of the panchayat said they are committed to protecting the interests of local residents and ensuring that infrastructure projects are taken up only after due process and consultation.
Further action is expected following discussions with GSIDC officials.
