MAPUSA: Candidates fielded by Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte for Penha de Franca, Kavita Gupesh Naik won with margin of 1,687 votes while Vaishali Satardekar scored a lead in Socorro Panchayat.
Satardekar could not win despite a clear lead in Socorro Panchayat areas as the ZP constituency comprises of areas like Parra, Guirim and Saligao besides Socorro.
Reacting to the results, Khaunte that his determination to work for the voters of this constituency has been strengthened further with the ZP results, which has shown that the constituency has stood by him.
He said that the work done by Porvorim Rising and like-minded people during COVID-19 pandemic has been vouched by the voters, who did not fall prey to the divisive politics of BJP and backboneless leaders of Congress who have surrendered to the rival party.
