MARGAO: Few political parties are trying to blackmail Congress by giving deadlines for an alliance. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Goa Forward Party (GFP) have lost faith of Goans so they are trying for an alliance with Congress, stated newly inducted and former minister Mickky Pacheco, on Friday.

Addressing the media in Margao, Mickky said that the NCP has no moral right to talk of an alliance.

“The NCP has given 15 days deadline to decide upon an alliance. Parties are giving deadlines and trying to blackmail few leaders of Congress. There are few leaders in Congress trying to make balance, but I am not for such type of action. Around 90 per cent of the Congress workers do not want an alliance for the upcoming Assembly elections,” he said.

Mickky said that NCP’s act of giving a deadline is like a threat to Congress.

“One party is asking for 10 and the other for eight seats. That means those two parties will take away 18 seats from Congress. However, those two parties must remember that Congress has not asked for an alliance. This type of blackmailing needs to be stopped,” he stated.

Mickky appealed to his fellow Congress leaders not to fall prey to the threats of these two parties.
