People visiting Transport Dept office face hardships due to technical snag

MARGAO: Hundreds of applicants visiting the offices of the Transport Department in Margao are frustrated as their work is stalled since the server of the department has been down for the last several days.However, officials at the Transport Department here said that there is no certainty when the service will be resumed.

Since Friday, the server of the department has been down due to some technical issues. Consequently, hundreds of applicants visiting the office with their applications are forced to return back without completing the work. In some cases, the last day of the license renewal is fast approaching and if the server is not restored, then they might not be able to renew in time, due to which they might face problems.

People are seen at the transport department office in order to avail services like getting driving licences, documentation pertaining to transfer of vehicles, registration of new vehicles, besides renewal of vehicle fitness certificate, etc. However, presently all applicants are facing inconvenience due to the server issue. 

Speaking to O Heraldo, one of the applicants at the office said that several like him are facing inconvenience due to the non-functioning of the server of the Transport Department at Margao.

Mahesh Nayak, President of Jai Damodar, blamed the officials at the top level and the concerned minister for the mess. “This is shows lack of seriousness towards the public at the Transport Department,” he said. 

Jack D’Souza, Assistant Director of Transport at Margao said that people can avail the service online and there is no need to panic.

“The server has been down since Friday, but the concerned technical team is working hard to repair the faults and resume the services,” he said, appealing to the people to get their receipt online in order to avoid inconvenience at the Margao office.
