PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that people’s cooperation is a must to overcome any situation such as disaster or calamity including the current prevailing COVID pandemic.

He was speaking at the dedication ceremony of critical COVID-19, organised by Rotary Club of Panaji Rivierà, at Kala Academy, Panjim. The Chief Minister handed over the medical equipment to the Director, Directorate of Health Services Dr Jose D’Sa.
Congratulating the Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera, the Chief Minister said, “The club has always contributed during the times of polio and other such calamities. The present generation, who are enjoying the fruits of Goa Liberation, need to contribute back to the State to make Goa self-reliant.”
“The medical equipment provided by Rotary Club will help to strengthen further medical facilities in the State,” he said.
MLA and chairman of Goa State Horticultural Corporation Pravin Zantye said, “The prevailing pandemic has badly affected the State, making the life of common man miserable. However, the government has been trying its best to provide better health facilities to the people.”
Appreciating the efforts of the government led by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Director of Health Services Dr Jose D’Sa said, “It is working relentlessly to tackle the pandemic, by taking precautionary measures on daily basis and providing various medical facilities such as COVID hospitals, testing labs and other required amenities to combat the infection.”
He appreciated the Rotary Club’s gesture of donating medical equipment to Directorate of Health Services to further strengthen healthcare facilities in the State.
Rotary Club of Panaji Riviera during the COVID-19 pandemic months of April- May 2020 applied for a Global Grant of the Rotary Foundation, having value of USD 99,565 or Rs 75 lakh.
