Pernem, Canacona RP notified

Regional plans 2021 for Pernem and Canacona which were finalised some days back were notified on Wednesday and by virtue of these notifications will automatically come into force for implementation immediately.
In the evening, Senior Town Planner T Puttaraju said the Gazette notification will appear in tomorrow’s edition as the same had been sent to the government printing press. Soon the Government will inform the public through newspaper advertisements regarding the same, he mentioned.
With this, the surface utilisation maps for Pernem and Canacona are ready. However, the policies framed will be applicable throughout the State even as taluka wise plans will be notified in a phased manner. SLC members said the plans for Ponda and Sattari were almost ready and the same would be taken up for notification soon.
Earlier in the morning, Chief Minister Digambar Kamat announced to media persons in the presence of State-level Committee members the plans of the two talukas were in the process of being notified and had been sent to the Law Department for the purpose of vetting.
Kamat said when he took over as the CM he had assured the people of preparing good regional plan by keeping their sentiments and suggestions by following a transparent process.
He said anybody may say anything, but for the first time in the country such a huge exercise of formulating the Regional Plan 2021 has been undertaken and the villages today have a document to debate about the developments in their areas.
He said there were quarrels in the panchayats and gram sabhas over projects coming up in villages but one must not forget that the villagers have a document based on which they can talk.
The CM’s announcement about the notifications of the plans was followed by a detailed and systematic presentation on the plan by nodal officer for RP Sanjith Rodrigues.
SLC members Brian Soares, Dean D’Cruz and Charles Correia also interacted with media persons in between the presentation and answered queries pertaining to several aspects of the RP.
The Chief Secretary, Puttaraju and Chief Town Planner Morad Ahmad were also present during the presentation.
