PERNEM: The members of Congress’s Pernem Block in a letter to Deputy Collector Pernem Ravishekhar Nipanikar demanded that the flood-affected families of Ibrampur be rehabilitated.
They claimed that families from Ibrampur suffered losses as the rainwater and the dam water entered into their houses and accused the BJP government of paying peanuts in name of compensation.
“After the floods, the government department conducts inspections but pays only Rs 4,000-5,000 as compensation which is not enough. We demand that the government rehabilitate these families to a safe location”, Vithu Morajkar, a member demanded.
Morajkar said, “We request the government to acquire government land, construct houses and shift these people there. This will provide relief to the flood-affected families”.
“Local MLA, who also is the Deputy Chief Minister, claims that he has developed Pernem. If so then how these villagers are facing difficulties each monsoon? Roads are in bad condition. Water problems of the people are not solved”, Morajkar claimed.
