PERNEM: The people of Pernem have appreciated the hard work put in by the Fire brigade teams that conducted rescue and search operations, which took place in Tuem, last Saturday. They issued a message appreciating the quick and hard work taken by the fire brigade teams in recovering the bodies of the four boys who lost their lives in the laterite quarry.
It may be recalled that a team of Pernem fire station along with a team of Panjim Fire station worked till midnight to remove the bodies out of the deep quarry, which was filled with water. The Panjim Fire brigade team headed by Shrikrishna Parrikar along with Baburav Arondekar, Santosh Tari, Dipesh Malik, Damodar Rao and Pernem fire brigade team along with Pernem-in-charge Namdev Parwar ventured into the muddy quarry for 7 hours. The search operation began at 6pm and went on till 12.45 am.
