Pernem MLA and police authorities enforce tenant verification after taxi driver’s murder at Dhargal

In view of the recent murder case of a taxi driver at Dhargal, Pernem MLA along with police officers have taken a decision of verification of non-Goan who staying at Pernem as a tenant. The owner has to submit a form which states all the details of the tenant who is a non-Goan so that in future any incident happens involving a non-Goan then through this verification the police can nab the accused. This is done to safeguard the Goan public’s lives from the intimidation of a non-Goan

On Friday the Pernem MLA along with DySP Jivba Dalvi, police officers and Pernem panchayat bodies held a press conference regarding the recent murder case of the Taxi driver by three non-Goans at Dhargal.  Not only the murder case, but the press conference also highlighted the various criminal incidents taking place in the state due to the non-Goans.

“In order to avoid such tragic incidents in future, police verification will be made compulsory in every waddo across Pernem. The owner should make sure that the details of their tenants are submitted to the police station. I request every one of the people out there to help the police and the panchayat by submitting the tenant information.”  Pravin Arlekar, Pernem MLA

The MLA further stated that by providing the tenant’s personal information to the police authorities, the non-Goan tenants are also alerted and will be careful in future before taking any wrong steps. If in future such incidents do take place then it will be much easier for the police to nab the perpetrators.

Adding to this point, DySP Jivba Dalvi highlighted the importance and the effects of these tenant verification cards. He expressed, “Criminals from other states come to Goa and stay in the state by posing as normal citizens. Unaware of their background, the house owner allows them to stay as tenants. In some instances, police departments from other states have arrived in Goa to nab these criminals. So by making this card, it will be easy for us and the owners to know the tenant’s background.”

Meanwhile, Congress leader Sanjay Barde has criticized the police officials for not taking any cognizance in this matter and expressed his frustration over the police authority’s failure. He highlighted that there are three police stations within the Pernem Taluka. Despite having three police stations Pernem has no control over its people.
