PERNEM: Various issues were discussed at the Pernem municipal council’s meeting including the delay in completing the municipal building and to increase the house tax by 2% for the illegal shops and houses within the municipal area.
The new administrative building of the Pernem municipality is currently under construction by GSUDA. However, due to the constant delay by the contractor, the municipality has to spend more money on the rented space. PMC owes more than Rs 7 lakh to KTC by way of rent. The PMC chairperson suggested the passing a resolution asking KTC to waive off the amount. MLA Arlekar, meanwhile, suggested that the contractor to pay the rent to KTC. A resolution to this effect was passed unanimously.
Another important decision of increasing the house tax by 2% for the illegal shops and houses in the jurisdiction of the municipality was taken. It was also decided to repair the gutters.
The meeting was presided by chairperson Siddhesh Pednekar in the presence of MLA Pravin Arlekar, and was attended by chief officer Anil Rane, deputy chairperson Ashwini Palyekar, councillors Usha Nagvekar, Vishakha Gadekar, Trupti Sawal Desai, Rakhi Kashalkar, Shivram Tukoji, Manoj Harmalkar, Madhav Sinai Desai, Vishnu Salgaonkar, engineers and other officials.
