Pernem Police advise people not to abandon houses during Ganesh

Say in case families plan to move out of State then they should carry their valuables with them

PERNEM: In view of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi, Pernem Police on Monday issued an advisory to the taluka residents against abandoning their houses during the festival. 
In their appeal to the people, the police said in case the families are planning to move out of State then they should carry with them their valuables such as jewellery, cash and other items.  They have also advised the people to use steel locks and keep houses illuminated at the night to avoid any thefts as the culprits target closed houses. 
The Pernem Police held a meeting with Ganesh mandals from across the taluka and directed them to take security precautions during the festival.
The committees have been directed to have entry and exit points and install CCTV cameras with proper illumination at the pandals. The police have advised the mandals to get all the temporary electrical points and fixtures checked by Electricity Department. The committees have been directed to have fire-fighting equipment checked by the fire station authorities to ensure safety. 
The police have also directed the mandals to make provision of volunteers to guard Ganesh idols and other valuables inside the pandal. The committees have also been instructed to contact the concerned authorities immediately with regards to suspicious persons or items near pandal.
