Pernem Police Bust Narcotics Possession in Arambol; One Arrested

In an operation conducted by PSI Yogesh Mandrekar of Pernem Police Station, a major breakthrough was achieved in the battle against narcotics at Arambol near Arambolian Café, Varchawada Arambol, Pernem. On December 12, 2023, at 18:00 hrs, PSI Yogesh Mandrekar lodged a complaint detailing the apprehension of an individual involved in the illegal possession of a suspected narcotic substance, believed to be Ganja.

The accused, identified as Sandesh, S/o Brahmadev Naik, aged 32 and a resident of H.No.403, Naikwadi, Parme, Dodamarg, Maharashtra, was caught red-handed with approximately 1.574 grams of Ganja. The estimated market value of the seized substance is around Rs. 1,50,000 in the international market. The illegal substance was cleverly concealed in the accused’s scooter bearing registration number MH-07-AP-2005.

The arrest is made under the provisions of Section 20 (b) (ii) (B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. PSI Yogesh Mandrekar, who led the operation, is serving as the Investigating Officer (IO) in this case. Accused Sandesh Naik is currently in police custody, and further legal proceedings will follow.
