PERNEM: Pernem police on Sunday cracked a murder case within six hours of the incident and arrested a resident of Surla Keri.
According to information received from Pernem PI Vikram Naik, one Anita Petkar resident of Vaidongar Parse in Pernem lodged a complaint that a body was floating in well.
A team of Pernem police and Pernem fire brigade rushed to the spot after Petkar’s complaint.
The fire force team headed by Sub Officer Prashant Dhargalkar retrieved the body from the well and handed it over to the Pernem police. During the panchanama it was revealed that deceased is Santosh (Surname not known) who was working as caretaker of cattle of the complainant for the last seven years and used to stay in cowshed.
Upon further inquiry, police obtained information that one Anil, alias Sandip Zantye, resident of Surla who was working as caretaker of the cattle of the complainant Petkar before the deceased Santosh and had enmity with the complainant.
Pernem police then nabbed Anil, alias Sunil Zantye from Surla, who allegedly committed the crime over his previous enmity with the owner.
The accused has been placed under arrest under Section 302, 447 and 201 of Indian Penal Code.
