PERNEM: Even though the government tried to suppress the voices and break down the agitation of taximen by imposing section 144, the Taxi associations from Pernem continued with their protest on the fifth day.
The protesting taximen assembled in front of Pernem administrative building and reiterate their demand for a notified stand at the Manohar International Airport (MIA).
Hundreds of taxi operators from Pernem Taluka especially from the Mopa affected villages have bought vehicles with the hope that one day they will get a notified stand where they could operate from and make a living.
The taximen said that they have bought the taxis on EMI which they have to pay off, however the delay in notifying the stand is adding to their woes.
They hit out at local MLA Pravin Arlekar being insensitive to their plight.
