VASCO: Director General of Police (DGP) I D Shukla on Monday said that the police personnel deployed on election duty in Uttar Pradesh and other poll-bound States would return Goa by Tuesday to cast their postal votes.

Shukla said soon after Goa Assembly polls on February 14, the police personnel had to leave to Uttar Pradesh next day as per orders of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), New Delhi.
According to Shukla, around 950 police personnel had left Goa and after a few days duty, they wanted to return home to cast their votes through Postal ballot. He said that it was not possible to dispatch postal ballots from Goa to Uttar Pradesh as it could lead to allegations. After the police department received e-mail requests it was decided to deploy personnel who had already cast their votes in Goa and bring back those deployed earlier.
Sympathising with the personnel who underwent long journey travelling all the way from UP, the DGP said that the police life is never easy. The personnel will now reach Goa on Tuesday even as the last day to cast postal ballot is on Wednesday.
The DGP was for all praise for his staff for their fantastic job in the interiors of the other poll-bound States and for even working at polling booths on the polling day..
