RTI activist threatens to approach Goa Human Rights Commission; Demands that govt either provide the couple with jobs or compensate them

PONDA: Persons with disabilities at Mallarimal-Codli in Kirlpal Dabal Panchayat jurisdiction have condemned the PWD for hotmixing the roads in their property.

Addressing media persons along with the persons with disabilities namely Santosh Gaonkar, his wife besides two other families at Kranti Maidan-Ponda, RTI activist Rajan Ghate, said, “PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, who is also the local MLA, is undertaking hotmixing of roads in a private property without land acquisition and ignoring several objections by the family. Even Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had directed the Panchayat Director and Curchorem Police to probe the matter. However, pending inquiry, the PWD Minister launched the hotmixing work.”

Claiming that there is violation of Constitutional rights, Ghate threatened to approach the Goa Human Rights Commission if the persons with disabilities and two other families including the Viridkar family are denied justice.

Ghate demanded that government either provide the persons with disabilities with jobs or compensate them.

Ghate said, “Santosh and his wife are persons with disabilities. Besides, there are two other families including the Viridkar family, who are facing injustice.  On October 19, the family had demanded that Chief Minister clear the internal road constructed in their private property.”
