MARGAO: The High Court has disposed the application filed by the United Goans Foundation (UGF) to halt the Margao and Ponda Outline Development Plan. The HC disposed the application after UGF filed an application to withdraw the main application following the affidavit of SGPDA of starting the process of ODPs afresh.
The UGF had in December 2016 filed an application opposing the changes to the ODP and prayed to keep it on hold.
The High Court then directed the South Goa Planning & Development Authority not to go ahead and pass the ODP of Margao and Ponda until the application is fully heard.
The PIL had contended that the Comprehensive Development Plan which was supposed to be prepared in 2010 as per directions of TCP dept under Digambar Kamat Govt when Mauvin again was Chairman wasn’t been prepared yet.
Secondly no inputs from MMC, PWD, WRD, Comunidade, CRZ, Konkan railway were taken. All modifications were allegedly carried out against TCP act and the applicant termed it an arbitrary conversion.
The UGF has in their withdrawal application said that the SGPDA has assured to start the process afresh which fulfils their prayer. However, the UGF has also prayed for the liberty to approach again in case of any further issues. Ashish Kamat of UGF said that they will monitor the process hereon to avoid further discrepancies.
