PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa leader Puti Gaonkar, who represents the mining dependent community said through AAP’s intervention, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) has agreed to hear the petition filed in the Supreme Court (SC) regarding mining resumption in the first week of January 2022.
While addressing media persons, Gaonkar said AAP Supremo Arvind Kejriwal had promised to help the mining dependent at the courts and had promised to appoint a special counsel to take the matter up at the SC. He said AAP had followed up on the matter and that on Thursday, the CJI agreed to hear the matter after the court vacation and Christmas holidays culminate.
Gaonkar used this development to criticise Congress and BJP for not delivering on promises made on mining. He also accused the governments of both the parties of finishing mining in Goa and for taking decisions that have affected lakhs of mining dependents.
