Petrol pumps deny three-day closure

VASCO: All speculations of three-day closure of petrol pumps came to an end on Thursday evening after President of All Goa Petrol Pumps Dealers Association, Paresh Joshi denied the rumours.
Joshi said that there won’t be any problem regarding fuel shortage as the oil companies have enough reserve available with them.
After rumours started circulating on social media on Thursday that fuel stations across the State would remain close for three days, there was a beeline of vehicles at many petrol pumps to fill fuel.
Allaying the fears, Joshi said, “Although there is heavy rainfall and rough climatic condition in Goa, there won’t be a shortage of fuel and closure of petrol pumps in Goa.
“It is just a rumour that fuel stations will be closed for three days. I have not received any such official information of the closure,” he said.
Joshi explained that petroleum companies store enough fuel with them which can last even for 15 days in case of emergency. “Goa receives its fuel supply from seaways and therefore there won’t be any effect on fuel supply. There is no connection between stopping of fuel supply and blockage of main roads at Chorla Ghat and other interstate roads. I urge locals not to fall prey to rumours and get panicked,” Joshi appealed.
