PANJIM: The Progressive Front of Goa has slammed the Chief Minister for leading a futile meeting with Union Minister for Environment Prakash Javdekar on Monday.
“The Centre should have kept in abeyance the EC rather than seeking 10 days time to clarify on the clearance to the project,” said PFG member Mahesh Mahambrey, while adding that the forum will not compromise on Mhadei
PGF member Hridaynath Shirodkar also warned the govt of facing the wrath of the people in the next elections and accused the BJP at the State and Centre of resorting to drama ahead of the by-polls in Karnataka.
Reacting to Sawant’s statement on Sunday, refuting that Centre granted EC to Karnataka, the forum questioned the wisdom of the CM to submit a memorandum seeking EC’s withdrawal. Shirodkar said, “If there is no such letter by the Centre, why the delegation submitted a memorandum for EC’s withdrawal? It’s an irony that the union minister seeks time to clarify on the clearance when it had instantly granted the clearance without taking Goa into consideration.”
The PGF also said the CM was being ‘arrogant to hide his ignorance on the issue’ and added that the Goa govt is not serious about Mhadei or the State.
