PANJIM: The Supreme Court on Monday has apparently granted relief to students who were admitted to PG courses at GMC on the basis of NEET, asking the State government to admit with immediate effect those who were admitted to the PG programmes of GMC and Goa Dental College, health department sources said.
However, they said that they had not received any official confirmation regarding the order and would wait for a copy to study the details.  Copies of the order are not available as yet. However, the court has apparently called the Medical Council of India and the Dental Council of India to give their say next week.
Meanwhile, the Congress on Wednesday lodged a complaint, with the Anti- Corruption Branch, against the government, alleging corruption and illegal gratification in admissions to post graduate courses at GMC and Goa Dental College, at Bambolim.
The party has asked the ACB to investigate Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s role on allegations that rules were bent to accommodate candidates, who are supposedly related to him.  “While undergraduate admissions as of now have been done under NEET-UG, admissions for PG are not done as per NEET-PG but as per MBBS marks aggregate score merit,” the spokesman said in the complaint letter.
The complaint copy also cites Parrikar’s noting dated May 28, which stated “NEET (UG) is approved. Regarding NEET (PG) file may be sent to AG (Advocate General) for his opinion after directions are issued with regards to admission of UG.”
Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, Additional Secretary (Health) D G Sardessai and others are also named in the complaint copy.
The ACB is yet to register a case.
