PANJIM: Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phaldesai has welcomed the decision to set up Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) project in Sanguem taluka.
Two sites have been identified for the IIT project and the process will be finalised within next two months. He said efforts are on taking all stakeholders into confidence.
The Minister said that discussions were on to bring IIT in Sanguem taluka during the tenure of former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar and blamed his successor for not taking the proposal forward during last five years.
Phaldesai said that he had been trying to bring IIT project in Sanguem taluka even as sites were identified in other talukas. “I have now taken up this issue with Chief Ministr Pramod Sawant to set it up in Sanguem. We will take all stakeholders into confidence,” he said.
