Pharma co employees go on indefinite strike

PONDA: Employees of pharma giant Ranabaxy, affiliated with the Ranabaxy Labour Union, have gone on an indefinite strike in Madkai Industrial Estate, Ponda. 

The strike has been ongoing for 11 days, with the workers protesting against the company’s decision to ask more than 30 employees to join work in other States. The workers, most of whom are Goans and some of whom are women, say it is not affordable for them to work in other states. The workers demand the reinstatement of sacked union leaders and staged an agitation at the company entrance, calling on the government to intervene. The employees have decided to continue the strike until their demands are met.
