PANJIM: The Goa government on Monday declared workers employed in pharmaceutical and medicine supply chain from production to retailing; persons with disabilities (PwD) and lifeguards engaged by the Tourism Department as frontline/special category workers for the purpose of COVID-19 vaccination.
The government stated that these workers are contributing to the fight against COVID-19 on a daily basis by being in the forefront and are thus at risk of contracting the disease in furtherance of their duties.
The pharmaceutical and medical supply chain establishments having licence issued by the Directorate of Food Drugs Administration (FDA) will have to issue certificate to its workers on prescribed format while, the differently-abled persons or Divyangs will be to produce disability certificate issued by the government doctor.
Similarly, lifeguards will have to produce certificate issued by an authorised officer of the tourism department.
