PANJIM: A pharmacist was arrested for allegedly supplying party-drug to another drug-peddler Rajendra Patil on Tuesday.
]Norman Azavedo, owner of ‘Norm Pharmacy’ in Sangolda was nabbed by a team of Anti Narcotics Cell giving 100 gms of methamphetamine to Patil, who is himself facing drug trafficking charges.
Azavedo who earlier arrested in December 2009, in a joint operation by the Customs and Central Excise and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, while he was smuggling huge quantities of crystalised Ketamine to Europe in packaging disguised as the herbal supplement Sat-Isabgol. He was booked for another similar offence in 2008.
Ketamine which is easily available in pharmacies along the coastal belt After the offence, the Food and Drugs Administration had suspended licence of one of his three pharmacies located at Baga-Calangute stretch. The cases are on trial.
