PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has directed the health officer of Primary Health Centre, Chimbel to consider the grant of supply of potable water and electricity to the residents of the flats in the Mudras Mansion at Santa Cruz on payment of the appropriate fees.
The Commission also asked the applicants to continue to pay the bills from time to time, failing which the PWD and the Electricity Department will be free to disconnect the supply.
Sanjay Kumar Puthal, Ketan Govekar and Paresh Salgaonkar, all residents of Mudras Mansion, Calapor, Tiswadi taluka had approached the Commission with complaints that a common electricity meter was disconnected in the Mudras Mansion building at Santa Cruz in which they were residing.
The three-member GHRC comprising chairman Justice Utkarsh Bakre and Members Judge Desmod D’Costa and Judge Pramod Kamat directed that the report be sent to the health officer of Primary Health Centre, Chimbel, calling for his comments, including the action taken or proposed to be taken within a period of two months or on or before November 29, 2021, in terms of Section 18 (e) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993.
“Under Section 18 (e) of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, the Commission shall send a copy of the inquiry report together with its recommendations to the respondent, who shall within a period of one-month or such further time as the Commission may allow, forward its comments on the report, including the action taken or proposed to be taken thereon to the Commission,” it said.
There was a common water connection to the building obtained in the name of the owner of the plot Mukundraj Mudras which was dis-connected based on his written request as the bill of Rs 11,625 was not paid.
