PANJIM: The Goa police team in Hisar, which is carrying out investigations in the alleged murder of BJP leader Sonali Phogat, has come across some crucial facts and evidences related to the case.
Superintendent of Police (North) Shobit Saxena on Thursday said that a four-member team of Goa Police reached Haryana on Wednesday and visited Phogat’s house at Hisar on Thursday morning as part of the investigation. The Goa team went to the Sadar police station and also visited Phogat’s farmhouse in Dhandhoor, about 10km from Hisar on the way to Sirsa.
Some relatives have alleged that Phogat’s associate Sudhir Sangwan was eyeing her property.
Speaking to mediapersons, SP Saxena said that the investigation is on the right track. “The team in Haryana is conducting a probe that has been fruitful so far as crucial facts came to light. Also, some important evidences are collected by them,” the SP said.
Phogat was declared dead by a private hospital in North Goa on August 23, where she was brought after she started feeling uneasy. After initially registering the death due to natural cause, the police added murder charges after the post mortem revealed multiple blunt force injuries on her body.
