VASCO: The Dabolim International Airport was in the news for the wrong reasons after a picture of people sleeping just outside the airport went viral on social media with netizens criticising the act and also making suggestions on what should be done.
One of the biggest grouses was how this is an eyesore to international tourists and the face of Goa. One such tourist said he was shocked to the situation where people were sleeping on the floor. Commentators compared it to a local railway station and bus stands. Vasco locals questioned the security aspects of the airport and also criticised the authorities for failing to uphold its standard and ignoring such activities.
Efforts were made to contact Gagan Malik , Director of Airport Authority of India, Dabolim airport in-charge to know his reaction on the issue but he was unavailable. Later he tweeted about the incident, saying, “ Thanks for bringing the matter to notice. The concerned have been directed to note this exceptional situation occurred. Shall be dealt appropriately with no repeats in future”.
