MARGAO: The Margao Municipal Council’s Market Committee at its meeting on Monday decided to make it mandatory to have the photograph of the hand cart along with the owner for renewing licence and also cleared a number of transfer applications that will bring in around Rs 5 lakhs to the Council.
At the meeting chaired by Tito Cardoso, the committee decided to make it mandatory to have a photograph of the handcart along with the owner when applications for renewal of the carts are made. “This is done following complaints of more than one hand cart had the same registration number,” he said.
The inspectors will have to endorse the picture so that the council has a record of exactly how many handcarts are licensed and to whom they are licensed to.
The committee also cleared a number of transfer applications which were pending and the transfer charges can be up to Rs 50,000.
