A picnic ended in a tragedy to a group of youth from Bardez, when one of their colleague drowned in the river at Tambdi Surla, Sacorda, on Sunday at about 3 pm.
According to Collem PSI Praveen Gauns, one Sandip Mahadeo Naik Satardekar (32) of Verem, Betim drowned he went for a swim.
Sandip along with 30 others had gone for a picnic at Tambdi Surla.
Efforts by the colleagues to rescue Sandip proved futile.
PSI Gauns investigated into the matter under the supervision of PI Manoj Mardolkar.
