PIL in HC against mining transport in Caurem

MARGAO: Gawda, Kunbi, Velip and Dhangar (Gakuved) Federation has filed a PIL in the High Court of Bombay at Goa citing various violations of laws and rules in ongoing mining transportation. 

In its petition, Gakuved has highlighted the plight of the poor tribal villagers living in the mining affected villages such as Caurem of South Goa. Gakuved Federation has made Chief Secretary, Goa, Directorate Mines & Geology, GSPCB, District Collector South Goa, Superintendent of Police South parties to the PIL along with two mining companies that are involved in mining transportation in Caurem. 

The petition has been filed requesting urgent hearing. The villagers are wary of the threats that the mining transport poses to the students attending exams.
