Pimpri Chinchwad Police apprehended five Bangladeshi nationals in Nigdi’s Sainathnagar for alleged illegal residence. Assistant Inspector Ambarish Deshmukh spearheaded the operation, recovering five Aadhaar cards from individuals that were fraudulently obtained in Siliguri, West Bengal, using forged documents. Additionally, three of the detainees possessed passports issued in Goa.
Further investigations unveiled that one of the suspects was attempting to travel to the UK under the guise of attending a religious conference. Authorities discovered a counterfeit letter, purportedly from the president of a religious institution in Pimpri, addressed to the UK embassy in New Delhi.
The Anti-Terrorism Cell, led by Assistant Inspector V D Raut, received a crucial tip-off about the illegal stay of Bangladeshi nationals in Sainathnagar. A subsequent raid on a chawl resulted in the arrest of five individuals renting a room. The suspects now face charges under pertinent sections of The Passport Act and The Foreigners Act.
