Pink polling booths to be this election’s cynosure

For the first time, the Election Commission has introduced Model Polling Booths – All Women Pink polling booths – one in each constituency, and first time women voters will be welcomed with teddy bears as a token for exercising their democratic right.
The election machinery has also identified a polling booth which will be run by people with disabilities and it will be located at Ribandar.
Of the 11,10,884 voters, 5,64,142 are female voters while male voters consist of 5,46,742. Total 32,354 are the first-time voters between the age group of 18-19 years.  State also has 844 service voters and 35 overseas voters.
Vasco constituency has the maximum number of voters, that is 35,601 while the lowest are in St Andre, 20,941. “The average number of voters per constituency stands at 27,772 while on average each booth has 676,” CEO Kunal said. 
The biggest polling booth with 1266 voters is at Vasco while a polling booth at Sanguem has the lowest,103 voters. 
As many as 11,302 civil employees are on poll duty while there are 50 companies of central police force comprising of 8,000 securities. Another 3,747 Goa police officers would be on duty.
