Pipeline burst results in water wastage at Nondurlem

A day after the incident, Water Supply Department yet to repair the pipeline

SANGUEM: A large quantity of drinking water was wasted at Nondurlem-Sanguem on Saturday following a pipeline burst.

The pipeline supplies water to Ambdoi ward of the Sanguem Municipal Council(SMC).

However, even a day after the incident, the water supply department is yet to take note of the ruptured pipeline and get the same repaired.

Villagers informed that this is the fourth time the pipeline supplying drinking water to the village has ruptured this month.

They informed that cement pipeline is old and susceptible to frequent bursts. While the remaining pipeline is in good condition, the portion of around 200 metres, which uses cement pipes is subject to frequent breakdowns and needs to be replaced with plastic pipes.

However, the water supply to the village was not much affected. The locals term the wastage of water as unwarranted and claimed that the water supply department officials take things lightly as the incident took place in the interior ward of the Sanguem Municipal Council.
