MARGAO: Former Chairperson of Margao Municipal Council and Convenor of Shadow Council for Margao Savio Coutinho on Friday slammed Margao MLA Digambar Kamat for the lopsided development on account of Colmorod/ Rattwado area being cut off from water supply and electricity, due to the pipeline burst at Colmorod along the four land road.
“This shoddy development of his is creating more hardships than any good for the people of Colmorod”, charged Coutinho.
As informed by the former chairperson on May 26, a pipeline burst at Colmorod near Kiran Steel traders, the supply of line was shut down on 27th morning. While the whole day passed off with the workers hunting for the place of rupture, they finally realised that there were electricity cables at the location. There by making it necessary for the electricity to shut down to facilitate the repair work.
On Friday Coutinho visited the site and called the Assistant Engineer Prasad Sakardande at the site. It was brought to his notice that at the time of construction of the four-lane road, water supply lines were laid on either side of the four-lane road to avoid disturbance/damage of the road.
“Till today these lines laid through the GSIDC have not been charged with water supply. The reasons for this needs to be inquired into, as lakhs of rupees from the public exchequer has already been spent”, he stated. AE has assured to look into the matter.
“The 4 lane road was executed when Kamat was the Chief Minister, by making the best use of me, as a councillor, at the time of clearing the acquired land, thereby destroying my relationship with a land loser”, Coutinho stated.
Coutinho stated that the BJP government also is not in the mood to check upon this criminal wastage of public funds.
The former chairperson has warned of PIL if the issue is not solved at the earliest.
