BICHOLIM: The Gauncars and shareholders of Comunidade of Advalpal have filed complaints against 11 persons including five managing committee members for allegedly acquiring 65,700 square metres of land belonging to the Comunidade.
Addressing a press conference, Gauncars and shareholders said that they have already filed a complaint against 11 persons with the Special Investing Team (SIT) for land grab.
According to Comunidade of Advalpal former president Netaji Gaonkar, from 2013 to 2016, Sagar Gaonkar was the president, Govind Gaonkar (attorney) and Dilip Gaonkar (substitute attorney), Arjun Gaonkar (treasurer) and Shrikant Gaonkar (substitute treasurer).
The land admeasuring 65,700 square metres is situated in the survey number 25/0 known as ‘Gholi’. From 2013 to 2022, the current office bearers of the managing committee held different positions amongst themselves. But these office-bearers allegedly grabbed the Comunidade land between 2013 and 2016 by submitting forged documents and affidavits, they charged.
“We realised this during the mutation process. After that we enquired and sought information under RTI Act, which is when this got exposed,” said Gaonkar.
“On October 31, we questioned the managing committee and also wrote a letter. However the committee neither clarified nor did they adhere to our request to convene a meeting to discuss the matter,” they said.
Since the managing committee was not responding, the Gauncars and shareholders held a meeting with the villagers and brought to their notice the alleged land grabbing. It was after this the villagers decided to file a complaint against them with the SIT.
Gaonkar also claimed that the total cost of the land would be around Rs 6.5 crore. The Gauncars and shareholders have appealed to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to take serious note of the land grab and to direct the SIT to investigate the case and to bring the culprits to book.
