PANJIM: A Master Plan for setting up a Centre for Art at the Old Secretariat is on the anvil as the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation has begun interactions with its selected UK based Curating agency ~ PPM Consortium for initiating the process of converting the historic Adil Shah Palace into a world class art museum.
A delegation from the UK company is currently in Goa and Thursday inspected the Old Secretariat along with officials of GSIDC.
PPM Consortium, whose qualification has been approved in principle by the Goa government, will curate plans for setting up a Centre for Art at the old Secretariat.
GSIDC Managing Director Sanjit Rodrigues when contacted by Herald said, “We will be working closely with this agency that will have to prepare plans for executing various segments sought to be introduced at the Centre for Art.”
The agency has before it the task of working out various sections of art, staffing, and financial requirements and so on. While no specific timeframe has been set for the unveiling of the Centre for Art, GSIDC officials say that timeframes would be set for setting up of various sections as the curating agency recommends in its report.
Rodrigues said that the team which inspected the Adil Shah Palace Thursday is satisfied with the quality of work carried out at the old Secretariat and modifications to meet future requirements as proposed by them.
The government has spent around Rs 13 crore on the renovation works of the old Secretariat and is keen on setting up the Centre for Art as a world class museum in Goa.
