Plans for acquiring Neura land scrapped

PANJIM, DEC 30 In wake of stiff opposition from the locals and environment activists, the State today decided to scrap plans of acquiring land at Neura for building infrastructure for the 2011 National Games.

In wake of stiff opposition from the locals and environment activists, the State today decided to scrap plans of acquiring land at Neura for building infrastructure for the 2011 National Games.
CM Digamabar Kamat, addressing the media persons after the cabinet meeting, said that the State will now acquire land at Dhargalim, in North Goa.
He said that the Directorate of Sports have now identified a site in the Dhargalim, which is a barren land, and the government has decided to acquire the same for the construction of the infrastructure for proposed National Games.
The proposed land is of about 20 lakh sq meters, he stated.
