MARGAO: Illegal scrap dealer from Nessai got exposed in robbing the plastic fish trays from the wholesale fish market, Margao. Wholesale traders laid a trap and caught the gang on Tuesday. Later the case was compromised.
As informed by one of the wholesale fish traders at Wholesale Fish Market, Margao they noticed nearly five hundred plastic trays were missing from the market.
“We managed to lay a trap and caught the gang, as found that all the robbed plastic fish trays from the wholesale fish market were found at a scrap yard in Nessai, and was crushing them making powder to sell for the re-use to the companies,” said the fish trader.
He also informed that per fish tray cost around Rs. 700, and nearly five hundred trays, mostly belongs to the boat owners were missing from the wholesale fish market for the last year.
Upon the complaint of fish traders, one worker from the scrap yard was detained by the Fatorda police. However, later in the evening fish traders and scrap dealers compromised and the issue was settled.
