PANJIM: The Public Works Department (PWD) has submitted to the High Court of Bombay at Goa that petition filed by Goa Forward leader challenging allotment of work order for structural and renovation repairs of Kala Academy is politically motivated.
In his reply affidavit filed before the Court, Public Works Department Chief Engineer-I Shashikant Kamat has further said the work is being carried out in accordance with the requirements.
“The work is carried out under the guidance, supervision and monitoring of reputed expert agencies and institutions, with additional supervision/ monitoring by the Officers and Engineers of this Respondent (Public Works Department). No case is made out for grant of interim reliefs,” the reply copy stated.
The High Court had last month issued notice to the State government over a petition challenging allotting work order to a private firm for structural and renovation repairs of Kala Academy.
Petitioner Durgadas Kamat alleged that Techton Buildcon Pvt Ltd has been illegally allotted the work order since it’s on nomination basis without floating any tender.
Kamat had sought from the court a Writ, Order or Mandamus directing the State government, Directorate of Art & Culture and the PWD to award the entire work by floating a tender and calling for wide participation amongst bidders while specifying the technical qualifications required as well as verifying the technical capabilities of the bidders.
The PWD stated that the petition appears to be politically motivated petition/publicity interest litigation. The court has posted the matter for final disposal on December 14.
