Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks by saying that raising key public issues in Parliament cannot be dismissed as drama. Her reaction came shortly after the Prime Minister, ahead of the Winter Session, said Parliament required delivery, not theatrics.
Priyanka Gandhi stressed that matters such as the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and Delhi’s severe air pollution were major concerns that deserved discussion. She added that speaking about public issues was the purpose of Parliament, and the real “drama” was preventing democratic debate.

Earlier, PM Modi urged the Opposition not to turn the Winter Session into a stage for theatrics, saying he could even guide them on how to carry out their responsibilities. He criticised repeated disruptions over the past decade and said first-time MPs were being denied opportunities to speak. The session, featuring a shortened schedule of 15 sittings and 14 Bills, began amid Opposition demands for debates on the SIR process, BLO suicides and security concerns after the recent Delhi terror attack.
