QUEPEM: Power Minister and Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the nation to a great height.
Cabral was speaking after hoisting the tricolour on the occasion of 75th Independence Day, which was organised by Quepem Deputy Collector Office at Borimol Sports Complex, here.
Addressing the gathering, Cabral said, “Today we are independent because of what happened 75 years back. What was the need and why it happened, all these things we should consider and be responsible for our freedom which we got from our ancestors and remember the great sacrifices of the freedom fighters.”
He said, “Our ancestors fought for our freedom keeping in mind that our nation will never be ruled again by foreign rule and for that we are protecting and preserving our identity.”
“India has largest democracy in the world and I say that our independence is flourishing under leadership of Modji and his administration, which has taken the nation to a great height and also due to the strong protection of nation’s boundary with the support of military,” he added.
Quepem Deputy Collector Nilesh Dhaigodkar, Mamlatdar Laximkant Desai and Deputy Superintendent of Police Kiran Pudwal were present among others.
