PONDA: The confrontation between Ponda Municipal Council Chairperson Rukmi Dangui Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar has intensified, with Dangui claiming that various developmental works in Ponda will be stalled following a note from the Ponda MLA.

Addressing a press at the PMC office on Thursday evening, Dangui claimed Ponda MLA Lavoo Mamledar has issued a note asking local authorities to consult the PWD and himself prior to tendering any developmental works, such as concrete gutters, RCC slabs, retaining walls, roads, footpath and pavers.

The note circulated by Mamledar states: ‘I have proposed various developmental works in Ponda constituency through the PWD and in order to avoid any duplication of work, it is necessary to consult concerned PWD officers and the MLA.’

“This is unacceptable. Why should the PMC take an NOC from the PWD or even the MLA for works within the PMC jurisdiction? In fact, the PWD should seek an NOC from the PMC prior to undertaking any work. This is ridiculous and these are some of the tactics undertaken by the Ponda MLA to harass us”, said Dangui.
