PONDA: Petition filed by Councillor Pradeep Naik beside two former councillors and two other citizens challenging ward reservation and delimitation process was dismissed by the High Court of Bombay at Goa.
Naik said that the petition was dismissed by the High Court citing there was no proper study and presentation of the case. He said he and four others had challenged the ward delimitation and reservation. He said there was also delay in filing the case due to lot of holidays.
Meanwhile, although the nomination filing process began from Monday, March 10, not a single nomination was filed for second day by any candidate, informed the officials appointed for accepting nominations at Ponda Mamlatdar Office.
Meanwhile, some candidates said they are busy completing formalities like opening bank account, issuing No Dues certificates etc required in filing nominations and by Thursday most of them would file nominations. Last date for filing the nominations is April 18.
Meanwhile, some of the male councillors and former councillors who could not contest as their ward got reserved for women have decided to field their wife and daughters. PMC has total 15 members.
