PONDA: The Ponda Municipal Council has got Rs 4 crore approval for the construction of garbage disposal plant from the MPLAD fund.
This was disclosed by Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Vinay Tendulkar at function organised by BJP, on Monday. The Ponda Municipality is presently struggling to dispose the garbage and was badly in need of fund to install the garbage disposal machinery.
The PMC has its land for garbage disposal at Kerya Ponda but it lacks modern machinery.
Presently, incinerator is installed but not operational and waiting for the Goa State Pollution Control Board permission. A huge dump of COVID-19 waste is accumulated at the sub-district hospital due to breakdown of Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim incinerator.
