PONDA: The State has a helpline for various needs and now, the Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) has started a helpline to exclusively cater to garbage-related complaints.
Residents can directly contact the new garbage cell if garbage has not been lifted from their locality.
“We decided to introduce such kind of service aimed at solving garbage problem. There will be one person to attend the calls (0832-2312512, ext 21) at the garbage cell from 9 am to 5.30 pm. People can call directly if the garbage has been not lifted from their houses,” said PMC Chairperson Rukmi Dangui.
“The cell is already getting calls and the PMC workers are attending to the complaints. During house-to-house visit, the residents were given contact numbers of supervisors, junior engineer and the garbage cell number,” added Dangui.
“I urge people to cooperate with PMC to make city clean and green. I also request people to segregate garbage and keep medical waste from the house in separate bags,” she said.
“Needles can be kept in containers so that workers handling them do not get injured. So far, the plastic waste collected will be divided into four categories and will be sent for recycling,” said Dangui.
